In the midst of their Scottish escapade from the bustling streets of North Jakarta, Brian seized the moment to take a leap into forever. The plan? A wintry morning in the Scottish Highlands, under the watchful eyes of Nessie’s home, Loch Ness, and its historic guardian, Urquhart Castle.
Orchestrating a covert proposal in the early morning hours is an art form. Typically, I blend in seamlessly with tourists, pretending to be just another wanderer capturing every scenic moment. Lucky for me, a Timberbush tour was already poised to gain entry to the castle – my foolproof cover!
Enter Brian, accompanied by his unsuspecting mum and younger brother, both blissfully unaware of the magical surprise about to unfold. From North Jakarta to Loch Ness, they were on the brink of witnessing Brian’s heartfelt proposal.
As I snapped away, playing the tourist, I herded everyone to the spot Brian had envisioned – a breathtaking view overlooking the castle ruins and Loch Ness. We were primed and ready, but Brian’s nervous excitement…
With a deep breath, it was time. Train to catch in Fort William? No pressure! We had a mere 50 minutes to pull off the proposal and a whirlwind couple-only photo session.
Onlookers sensed something magical in the air – a few glances my way, a few fixated on the couple. Brian took the plunge, down on one knee, popped the question, and the answer was a resounding yes! Mum stood in stunned joy, and his brother was left wondering if he had just stepped into a fairy tale.
A swift exploration of the castle grounds ensued, capturing proposal memories and creating a whirlwind of images for this couple’s rapid visit to Urquhart Castle. The rain held off, frost melted beneath our feet, and I wished them a safe journey back to Fort William to catch that train.
