Scotland Wedding and Elopement Photographer for Couples Who Hate Posing
Real weddings, actual emotions, questionable weather
I’m Allan. Full-time wedding photographer, part-time weather survivor, and the guy who stays weirdly calm when Scotland decides to launch wind, rain, sun, and mild chaos all before lunch.
I’m based in Inverness and photograph weddings and elopements all over Scotland. Clifftops, lochs, castles, barns, fancy venues, middle-of-nowhere places you found on Google Maps at 2am… if it matters to you, I’m there.
I photograph people who want their wedding to feel like their wedding. Not a photoshoot. Not a performance. And definitely not a full day of being told to “just laugh naturally” while standing like a pair of confused penguins.
My approach is relaxed, documentary, and very much focused on what’s actually happening. The real laughs, the quiet moments, the slightly chaotic bits, and all the stuff you’ll give a damn about in ten years. I’ll step in when you need a bit of direction, disappear when you don’t, and I will never make you do anything that makes you internally scream.
Whether you’re eloping with just the two of you, bringing a small crew along for the ride, or throwing a full-scale party somewhere ridiculous and beautiful, I’m up for it. I’ve shot across Skye, Glencoe, Torridon, Assynt, beaches, forests, muddy fields, and more dance floors than I can count… usually while being lightly attacked by Scottish weather.
If you’re planning a wedding or elopement in Scotland and want photos that feel like you (not like a brochure), you’ll probably fit in just fine here. I’ll bring the camera, the local knowledge, the bad jokes, and a realistic understanding that it might rain sideways at some point.
A Few Things About Me (The Human Behind the Lens)
As a wedding and elopement photographer based in Inverness, in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. I photograph couples all over Scotland, from the dramatic mountains of Glencoe to the wild coastline of Skye, the peaceful lochs of Torridon, and the remote beauty of Assynt. If there’s a story to be told in a scenic corner of Scotland, I’m there with a couple of cameras and a pocket full of batteries.
I’m dad to two brilliant boys, with a slightly ridiculous 15-year age gap, yes, I’ve got one who’s into Lego and one who’s into car insurance and working. Keeps life interesting. I’m a bit of a tech geek, and someone who genuinely loves meeting new people and hearing their stories.
Raised in both Ayrshire and Skye, I’ve got a real love for this country, its landscapes, its people, and its unpredictable weather.
I’m here so you can look back at your wedding photos and feel it all again. If you’re happy, relaxed and wondering how I managed to be everywhere at once, job done.
What’s It Like Having Me as Your Wedding or Elopement Photographer?
Well: you’re relaxed, enjoying your day, soaking up every laugh, tear, and spontaneous dance move, and I’m in the background, quietly capturing it all. No awkward posing. No shouting directions. Just me helping you feel totally at ease, with plenty of banter, a couple of cameras, and maybe an umbrella or two (Scotland, remember).
I’ll help with planning, timing, and location ideas, whether that’s a grand Highland estate, a castle, a barn venue, or a lochside escape. With over 1000 weddings and elopements under my belt, I’ve seen it all… and I’ve got strategies for just about everything, from dodging rain showers to catching golden-hour light in tricky spots.
