Sophie and Stef’s Wild Glen Affric Wedding

///tougher.regulator.dimes

There are weddings you remember because everything went perfectly. Then there are weddings like Sophie and Stef’s Glen Affric elopement that you will be talking about for years.

Storm Floris, or whatever name they slapped on this week’s weather chaos, absolutely battered the Highlands on the day these two decided to get married. The forecast looked rough but there was a wee window in the morning that gave us all a bit of hope. So off we headed into Glen Affric thinking we might just pull this off before the weather turned.

Aye. About that.

What started as a light breeze turned into complete carnage within minutes. Sideways rain, brutal winds and everyone soaked through almost instantly. Proper Highland weather showing off. But honestly, Sophie and Stef were absolute legends from start to finish.

Not once did they complain. They laughed through it, held onto each other and just embraced the madness of it all. Their kids were brilliant too, taking the whole thing in their stride while their pals, who were also acting as witnesses, stood wondering how this had escalated so quickly.

This is exactly why I love photographing Glen Affric elopements. You never quite know what Scotland is going to throw at you, but when couples lean into the adventure instead of fighting it, that is when the magic happens.

A Wild Glen Affric Elopement Ceremony

Their celebrant Lilian was cool as anything throughout the whole thing. While the storm tried its best to steal the show, she kept the focus exactly where it should have been, on Sophie and Stef and the reason we were all standing in the middle of a Highland storm in the first place.

Vows were exchanged, promises made and somehow everyone kept smiling despite the rain trying to remove our faces. The paperwork eventually got signed in the car because, honestly, there comes a point where even Scottish weather wins.

As a Highland elopement photographer, I have seen my fair share of unpredictable conditions, but this was on another level entirely.

When the Glen Affric Estate Team Became the Heroes

Just when we thought the day could not get any wilder, trees started coming down around us and we realised we were not actually getting out anytime soon.

That was when the incredible Glen Affric Estate team appeared armed with chainsaws and started clearing the road. It genuinely felt like they removed about one hundred and seven fallen trees just so we could escape.

I have photographed weddings all across Scotland as an Inverness wedding photographer and I can honestly say I have never experienced anything quite like this one.

Why Adventure Elopements in Scotland Are So Special

This is the thing about eloping in the Highlands. You can plan timelines, locations and outfits, but you cannot plan Scottish weather. Sometimes you get golden sunsets and calm lochs. Other times you get hit sideways by a storm named Floris.

But that unpredictability is part of the story.

Sophie and Stef fully embraced it. Soaked to the skin, windswept and laughing the entire time. Their kids matched that same energy too and it was honestly brilliant to watch.

Perfect weddings are overrated anyway.

Real moments, real emotion and real memories will always matter more than pristine weather and carefully controlled plans. That is what adventure elopements are all about.

Glen Affric Elopement Sneak Peeks

These are only the sneak peeks from their wedding day and already this gallery is shaping up to be an absolute belter. No sunshine. No calm conditions. Just two people completely committed to each other while Scotland threw everything it had at them.

Sophie and Stef, you absolutely smashed it. Married in the middle of a Highland storm and laughing through every second of it.

What a day.
