Eilean Donan Castle wedding, outside with the midges

The American’s have landed.

When this American couple love everything about the Highlands…

What is there NOT to love about the Highlands, we have the scenery, the castles, the people.

A quick delve into yesterday’s wedding at Eilean Donan Castle with Elise and Alex, their family and friends, all had flown over from the States and were knee deep in Scottish culture. To say this couple loves Scotland would be an understatement! A day of laughs, love and fooooood…and maybe some whisky, oh and midges.

We started the day (for me 2pm) at Eilean Donan Apartments which the couple and their families had booked out, then it was over to the castle for the ceremony.

Elise and her Maid of Honour taken over by two stunning white horses and cart. Meeting the guests were the more Scottish than William Wallace, Clann An Drumma with Grant Munro Bagpiper piping as the lone piper in front of the horses as they took Elise across the bridge to the Castle.

Midges galore, the ceremony was held outside, overlooking the loch, (if it’s dry; it’s the best place) traditional hand-fasting and quaich rituals performed by Elise’s uncle!

Quick wee drinks reception in the castle and it was off back to the apartments for the meal, more Clann an Drumma and Highland Dancing and Gaelic song from two little girls from Fort William.

Then…it’s dancing shoes on and DJ gets into his groove, as do the guests, including Elise’s grandmother (party on!)

Some utterly random shots from their day before I get into the editing this week.
